Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change, says Tony Robbins. He’s right on this one, whatever we might think of him.

Most of us say we want change. Most of us also have elaborate stories about why we can't change. "I'm waiting for the right moment." "Things aren't that bad." "Maybe next year.” We’re comforting ourselves hoping that by some magic, our life will become what we want of it.

But, for things to really change in our lives, we need to become new people. The kind of people who show up for themselves, day in and day out, who drop wishful thinking and roll up their sleeves. With a clear commitment to themselves.

The work is uncomfortable. It doesn’t bring instant results. And part of us will always wish someone else could just swoop in and fix it all for us.

The harsh and cold truth is, no one is coming to save us. And as frustrating as that sounds, it’s also incredibly freeing. Because if no one else is in charge of our lives, that means we are.

And that’s a damn good place to be.

Stay awesome,
